Default I need an advice - 04-03-2009, 03:29 AM

Hello!
I'm new here. I've been browsing tons of forums for an idea of what to do. I was laid off from my job about 3 month ago. I've been looking for a job since then, but did not even get a single interview. I worked as a web designer for a publishing company for the last 5 years. Looks like www.hyipsurftalk.com is an active forum with active members and may be someone has some experience working as a freelance web designer. May be "http://www.hyipsurftalk.com/current-hyips-discussion/" category is not the most appropriate for this question, but I want to try anyways to get some opinions before I go ahead with my life. I'm wondering if it is possible in the current economy to find work for a freelance web designer and make enough to pay for rent and groceries. I was able to find a small project on craigslist and I developed a website for a company. It was a small project and took me only a week to complete. I got paid $800 for 1 week of work which is not bad. Please people give me some ideas. I have 2 kids and my wife is out of work as well. Thank you in advance.

Freelance jobs are very risky, If you are good in website designing I suggest you to establish few websites and earn money from various ways. You can keep freelance job for part time as well.

It looks like you have in a way answered your own question, by finding freelance work and getting paid for it. You had to have done something right to make that work, I would say stick with that. And it's also a good idea, as suggested, to start your own sites as well. I'm sure you can also find many different programs in this forum that will help generate income. Best of luck to you.

why don't you make a profile in freelancers and start bidding. You will definitely get lots of work from there. Best of luck

As one who lost his job in January, I feel Sorry for you!

I'm a Lawyer and part-time writer, and while I haven't really pursued this avenue (I'm also in grad school, so time's been at a premium) there's a site called elance which might be helpful. www.elance.com . It's basically a site where artists/freelancers can make connections and get work.

Hope this helps... good luck and keep us posted!
